A Walker on Waters & Facer of Giants.

Where did you feel most alone, most afraid, and most broken?

It is in that place where our chains are found.

The unhealed wounds of our past still carry pain.

The aches of those attacks, the cries of our inner child, haunt us.

We run from it.

We push it away.

We resent it.

We ignore it and pray that one day we’ll forget completely.

But….

God doesn’t want to mask the pain. He doesn’t want to merely treat the symptoms of the afflictions of our past.

He wants to HEAL those wounds.

He wants to FREE us finally from those chains.

But….

If we don’t allow Him to take us to that place so He can lay hands on it and heal it….then we allow those wounds to still live, haunt, and chain us.

So..what are we to do?

The pain, memories, and residual side effects are exhausting.

Let’s invite Him in because Jesus changes everything.

In His awesome power & strength & love, He says like the Loving Perfect Safe Heavenly Father He is, “Come here. What hurts?” With tears in our eyes, we look up at Him. He says, “Show me what hurts?”. We hold out our wounds to Him so our Papa can see and we surrender our wounds.

So what now? We’ve surrendered the wounds but the memories of the pain still haunt us.

He takes us back to the place where we hurt most and He breaks those chains. He takes us back to the storm and shows us that His help is sure and steadfast. He shows us that He is present in the storm.

Growing up, ground was never solid but shaky and made of eggshells, walls were never stable but could crumble at any moment. Transition was scary and usually brought on by something traumatic. Looking back at my childhood, I’m not sure I can think of one carefully planned positive transition period. My parents did the best they knew how but were merely beautiful broken children. (You should see my Momma now. I’m so proud of her and praise God for what He is doing in her and through her.)

Now, a decade later and living in intimacy with Jesus, He has led me to a transition period. New job, new home, and new job again within a months time. Before Jesus, I would have ran and hid. I would have fell apart and self-destructed.

But now? He is teaching me that, with Him, transition is safe, it is refining, it is preparing us for “the more” that He has created me for.

So, I share this with you, dear beautiful warrior: Don’t be afraid of the training ground because in it, He is preparing you for the battle ground. But for you to become the warrior He has created and called you to be, you must surrender your fears and that means surrendering your wounds. After surrender, comes facing them head on, with Jesus, and conquering them. Because you no longer walk this world alone. He is teaching you how to walk, hand in hand, with the Great I Am. He is training you to face giants but, you can’t face those giants tied down from the chains of what is hidden. He wants to break those chains so you can run free and wildly into what He has called you for.

Surrender your wounds.

Trust Jesus.

Face your fears and re-learn how to walk through the valley of the shadow of death, standing on solid ground, Jesus, surrounded by a wall of fire, His Holy Spirit.

You. Can. Do. All things through Christ who strengthens you!

Before, you were in the storm and being tossed about by the wind and the waves and then you feared every storm thereafter…but now? You face the storm with the One who the wind and the waves obey. You face the storm with the One who walks on water and calls you out to Him to walk on the waves.

So rise up & take your position. He equips you with impenetrable Armor and weapons of Light. He gives you the Helmet of Salvation, the Breastplate of Righteousness, the Belt of Truth, the Shield of Faith and the Sword of the Spirit. He surrounds you with a wall of fire and promises to never leave you nor forsake you. He is with you and His Spirit lives in you. So the next time battle comes knocking on your door, be confident and calm because you have Victory because, you have Jesus.
