A ‘Last Days’ Exhortation.

This morning I received an email regarding a news story that really hit me. The message was clear.

Here is the article posted by NBC News this morning, “Europe’s Winemakers Face Shrinking Harvest Due to Extreme Weather.

Throughout reading this my eyes were opened to a prophetic warning and exhortation from the Lord. As I have previously stated in the past, I will always pray and seek the Lord before blowing the trumpet. I was led to Revelation 5:12-Revelation 7:12 as confirmation and further clarification that I will touch on later.

I encourage you to read the article and pray about this as well but I will communicate here what I saw and understood when I read this.

“Currently, the winemaking regions in Europe are ‘reeling after extreme weather wreaked havoc on their crops’. However, some experts are believing that the surviving grapes will be of ‘extremely high quality’. This article states that the harvest will be the smallest in seven decades. Cold springs, long hot summers and sporadic hailstorms are expected to take a bigger toll.

“The initial 25 percent fall in harvest is ‘optimistic'” says Riccardo Cotarella, the president of Assoenologi, Italy’s main winemakers’ association. He warns that the harvest could be down by as much as 60 percent in some regions.

One family-run farm in Germany, that was first planted by the Romans about 2,000 years ago, just lost 850 acres of grapes due to a massive hailstorm. “There are hardly any leaves left,” Dahlem, the German producer, said, “It felt like the end of the world.”

Rual Diaz, a London-based wine buyer and expert, said Europe’s wine harvest is not very consistent year to year. But the problem this year has been more “extreme” than expected. French agricultural authorities predicted this year’s harvest will be the smallest since the end of WWII.

“The grapes that survive are of extremely high quality,” Diaz added. “It is a paradox, in a way, if you think about it. Lots of things occur in the end, but the remaining fruit is very high quality.” Cotarella said, “It is true that grapes mature thanks to the heat, but it’s also true that a long drought causes stress to the plants. The quality will probably increase in those vineyards  where the plant was carefully irrigated, and grown on clay at low altitudes, like on valleys. But that’s only 10 percent of the overall vineyards in Italy. The other grapes and vineyards will likely suffer.” Dahlem believes that the extreme weather has become more frequent. “We have a constant rise in temperatures,” Dahlem said. “When I was a kid, the harvest would take place in October, now we usually harvest in early or mid-September.”

Throughout reading this I saw a very clear parallel between Europe’s harvest and the end times harvest.

There is no doubt that our climate is changing because we have failed to steward faithfully and wisely what we have been given from the Lord. This ultimately reflects overall on humanities pride and determination to live life apart from Jesus. But that is another message for another day.

In John 15, Jesus refers to himself as the Vine and His Father as the Gardener. He states over and over again that apart from Him we can do nothing. During this season, the Last Days, that we are entering into (I received confirmation awhile back that His second coming was right at the door. You can read about that here.), it will be more important than ever to stay ‘in the Vine’ or in other words we must remain in Him.

“For the Great Day of their fury has come, and who can stand?” Revelation 6:17 CJB
“I am the vine and you are the branches. Those who stay united with me, and I with them, are the ones who bear much fruit; because apart from me you can’t do a thing. Unless a person remains united with me, he is thrown away like a branch and dries up. Such branches are gathered and thrown into the fire, where they are burned up. ” John 15:5-6 CJB
“See that you don’t reject the One speaking! For if those did not escape who rejected him when he gave divine warning on earth, think how much less we will escape if we turn away from him when he warns from heaven.” Messianic Jews (Hebrews) 12: 25-26 CJB

The Bible warns us that in the end we will see trouble like the earth has never seen. The Last Days, that is spoken of by the prophets of the Jewish Bible (the old testament), our Lord who is the Word, and the apostles up through the Book of Revelation.

“…Trust in Adonai (the Lord our Master) your God, and you will be safe. Trust in his prophets, and you will succeed.” 2 Chronicles 20:20 CJB

Like Diaz stated in this article, “while winemakers are used to dealing with deviations in their crops, the problem this year has been more ‘extreme’ than expected”, humanity is used to deviations, natural disasters and wars. However, this season will be more extreme.

This article also stated that the remaining fruit will be of a higher quality. We, who remain in Him (in the Vine), deeply rooted in Him and in His Word, may have to face extreme conditions but those who endure will have strengthened faith & trust. Our Light will shine brighter as the world darkens…but we must stand firm in our trust in Jesus.

This is what I command you: keep loving each other. “If the world hates you, understand that it hated me first.  If you belonged to the world, the world would have loved its own. But because you do not belong to the world — on the contrary, I have picked you out of the world — therefore the world hates you. Remember what I told you, `A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you too; if they kept my word, they will keep yours too. But they will do all this to you on my account, because they don’t know the One who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they wouldn’t be guilty of sin; but now, they have no excuse for their sin.” John 15:17-22 CJB

Please read all of Matthew 24 to know what Jesus says about the Last Days so that we may have wisdom, eyes to see & ears to hear, and not be surprised when it all unfolds.

“But God is so rich in mercy and loves us with such intense love that, even when we were dead because of our acts of disobedience, he brought us to life along with the Messiah– it is by grace that you have been delivered. That is, God raised us up with the Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) and seated us with him in heaven, in order to exhibit in the ages to come how infinitely rich is his grace, how great is his kindness toward us who are united with the Messiah Yeshua. For you have been delivered by grace through trusting, and even this is not your accomplishment but God’s gift. You were not delivered by your own actions; therefore no one should boast. For we are of God’s making (He is the Vine and the Gardener), created in union with the Messiah Yeshua for a life of good actions already prepared by God for us to do.” Ephesians 2:4-10 CJB (Emphasis added in parenthesis)

May the Lord, our Kinsmen Redeemer,  greet us the way Boaz, Ruth’s Kinsmen Redeemer, greeted her.

“She fell on her face, prostrating herself, and said to him, ‘Why are you showing me such favor? Why are you paying attention to me? After all, I’m only a foreigner.’ Boaz answered her, ‘I’ve heard the whole story, everything you’ve done for your mother-in-law since your husband died, including how you left your father and mother and the land you were born in to come to a people about whom you knew nothing beforehand. May Adonai reward you for what you’ve done; may you be rewarded in full by Adonai the God of Isra’el, under whose wings you have come for refuge.” Ruth 2:10-12 CJB

When Ruth had lost everything, she trusted in the God of Isra’el to provide refuge for her. May we do the same in these times.

++Kisha Gallagher, a studier of the Hebraic Roots of Christianity, just published a blog today on the Vinedresser, the True Vine, & the Branches  (the Ruach HaKodesh, that is the Holy Spirit, providing another confirmation of this message). I encourage you to read it!

He is coming soon! I told you earlier how He had led me to the Book of Revelation as confirmation on this. In Revelation 6 and 7 the disciple John speaks of the Lamb breaking open the seven seals. Discord will be all around, peace will be taken away from the earth, people will slaughter one another, death will descend by war, famine, plagues and with the wild animals of the earth.

Conditions will be extreme however, if we stand firm in our trust, He will be like a sanctuary for us. A source of Shalom.

The ones put to death for proclaiming the Word of God and bearing witness will cry out, “Sovereign Ruler, HaKodesh, the True One, how long will it be before you judge the people living on earth and avenge our blood?” Each one of those put to death for witnessing will be given a white robe and be told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow-servants should be reached, of their brothers who would be killed just as they have been. A great earthquake will take place, the sun will turn black as sackcloth worn in mourning, and the full moon will become blood-red. The stars will fall from heaven to earth just as a fig tree drops its figs when shaken by a strong wind. The sky will recede, every mountain and island will be removed from its place and everyone will hide in caves and rocks.

Then four angels will stand at the four corners of the earth, the wind will be still as they will hold back the four winds. Another angel will shout to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and sea, “Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads!” And then 144,000 from every tribe of Isra’el will be sealed.

After this, there will be a huge crowd, too large for anyone to count, from every nation, tribe, people and language. They will stand in front of the throne and in front of the Lamb, dressed in white robes and holding palm branches in their hands, shouting, “Victory to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” All the angels, elders, the four living beings will fall face down and worship God, saying, “Amen! Praise and glory, wisdom and thanks, honor and power and strength belong to our God forever and ever! Amen!”

“I pray that from the treasures of his glory he will empower you with inner strength by His Spirit, so that the Messiah may live in your hearts through trusting. Also, I pray that you will be rooted and founded in love, so that you, with all God’s people, will be given strength to grasp the breadth, length, height and depth of the Messiah’s love, yes, to know it, even though it is beyond all knowing, so that you will be filled with all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:16-19 CJB

Remember, our God loves us so much. He calls everyone to Him so that all may have salvation in Him and through His Son Jesus. He calls no one to His wrath but everyone to His Grace and His Love! So choose today whom you will serve. He is coming soon!
