What is Truth?

There is so much misguided misinformation out there. Everyday we are inundated with fake news, false teachings, and confusion. And the majority of the time with good intentions we accept whatever feels good and right. But our world is crying out for Truth! What is truth? And how do we hold fast and stand firm to the Truth once we find it?

Jesus said the reason he was born , the reason he came into the world was to bear witness to the truth and that everyone who belongs to the truth listens to him (John 18:37). Jesus was born fully Spirit and fully Man. He is the Son of God and the Son of Man and he was born Jewish. His mother, Miriam, was Jewish. He came from the house of David for the Jew first and then to the Nations. His talmidim (disciples) were Jewish. He celebrated the Jewish feasts, observed the Torah and prayed to His Father in Heaven, Adonai, the God of Israel. He bears witness to the truth.

“Yeshua (Jesus) said, ‘I AM the Way– and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through me.'” John 14:6 CJB

Today, there is a plethora of misinformation out there and if we aren’t deeply rooted in the Word of God in the Holy Bible then we will fall for anything & everything that tickles our ears. If it sounds loving then it must be true right? If it makes us all comfortable and happy and get along then it must be true? Wrong.

I understand why it is so easy to accept false teachings and new age spirituality concepts that all is true and if it is true for you then it is truth for you and what is true for me is truth for me and all is well. We want everyone to feel good so we simply redefine what Truth actually means.

But think about it like this. My name is Mercedes. I grew up in Missouri. My mother’s name is Julie and my father’s name is Andres. This is fact. This is true. Now, if someone else comes along and says, “I don’t believe your name is Mercedes. I don’t believe you grew up in Missouri and that your mother’s name is Julie and father’s name is Andres”. Does their unbelief or desire to believe something different change my name, location of where I grew up and who my parents were? No.

Let’s look into this a bit further. Jesus said He came into the world to bear witness to THE Truth, not truths. Singular, not plural. He also said that He is THE Way, THE Truth and THE Life…again, not plural. There are not many ways to Heaven. There are not many ways to the Father. There are not many truths to eternal life. There is only One.

And lastly, this wave of new age spirituality that exalts self and that there is merely a higher consciousness that we’re all working towards and that we all worship the same god is a contradiction in and of itself. And our God is not the author of confusion. He is loving and desires us to know Him. A loving God would not write confusion into our story on our journey to find him. He would never place stumbling blocks in our path to Him. We do not all worship the same god. He would not in one part of the world say, “Love your enemies and pray for those that persecute you.” and in another part of the world say, “strive against (Jihad) one another”. He would not say, “I AM the only way to the Father” and in the next breath say, “There are many ways to me.”

I do not say this because I think highly of myself or my thoughts. I say this as someone who has met Him and seen Him face to face (you may read about that meeting here). I have heard his voice and felt His touch and embrace. And I know the One who created us and loves us dearly is Jesus, the Great I AM. And when He walked among us wrapped in flesh He was the full expression of God.

I encourage you all to take heart, be of courage and read His Living Word in the Bible. I encourage you all to know Him so well, to be so deeply rooted, to stand so firm that when the waves of misinformation/confusion/false ear-tickling teachings come your way you will have enough wisdom and discernment to resist and to be unmoved and unwavering. Just because something sounds good does not make it true.

The enemy, our adversary, strives to steal, kill & destroy. And he is cunning like a snake. He will do whatever it takes to lead you astray, to scatter and divide us. The Bible says that he masquerades as an angel of light.

For I am jealous for you with the jealousy of God himself. I promised you as a pure bride to one husband—Christ. But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent. You happily put up with whatever anyone tells you, even if they preach a different Jesus than the one we preach, or a different kind of Spirit than the one you received, or a different kind of gospel than the one you believed.” 2 Corinthians 11:2-4
“As surely as the truth of Christ is in me, no one in all of Greece will ever stop me from boasting about this. Why? Because I don’t love you? God knows that I do. But I will continue doing what I have always done. This will undercut those who are looking for an opportunity to boast that their work is just like ours. These people are false apostles. They are deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ. But I am not surprised! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no wonder that his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. In the end they will get the punishment their wicked deeds deserve.” 2 Corinthians 11:10-15

I wish I could put God’s fiery passionate longing for you into words that would come through this computer screen and grab your heart. His love, His desire, His longing for you to turn to Him is so deep and so wide that He Himself came down and walked among us, died for us, and rose in victory for us. Seek Him, find Him and know Him. His Living Word in His Holy Bible awaits your presence. The Holy Spirit will guide you. The Book of John is a great place to start but the entire bible tells of His identity, power, strength, justice, mercy, grace, and love.

Become deeply rooted in Him and be unmoved lovely one!
