The Gospel in Judges 4

It is finally time to reveal what God has taught me from Judges chapter 4. It is so rich and it took a bit for me to fully wrap my head around it.

I absolutely love reading about the female prophetess D’vorah (Deborah in Hebrew) but God has totally unlocked for me the prophetic meaning of her service and her deliverance of Israel. She is strong, firm and wise. She judged over conflicts and prophesied to Israel during a time when women’s testimonies were not even accepted. God chose her and by doing so He flips over the tables of thought that women are incapable of leading or teaching. Amen to that! But let’s get to what God has revealed.

The very roots of the Hebrew words in Judges chapter 4 prophetically point to His deliverance through the Messiah Yeshua (Jesus Christ). So let’s look at the Hebrew words of the people and places in Judges chapter 4 and their meanings and insert those meanings into the text and see if this sounds familiar.

Judges chapter 4 with Hebrew word’s meanings inserted:

“But after {being joined and in union} had died, the people of Israel again did what was evil from the Lord’s perspective. So the Lord handed them over to {Understanding} the king of Canaan. He ruled from {the Enclosure}; and the commander of his army was Sisra (the enemy), who lived in {the Carving of the Nations/Gentiles}. The people of Israel cried out to the Lord, because he had 900 iron chariots, and for twenty years he cruelly oppressed the people of Israel.

Now {the Bee}, a woman and a prophet, the wife of {torches/fiery}, was judging Israel at that time. She used to sit under {the Bee’s} Palm between {the heights, deceit?} and the {House of God}, in the hills of {Doubly fruitful}; and the people of Israel would come to her for judgement. She sent for {the Lightning/flash} the son of {the Pleasant Father}, from {a Consecrated/holy/sacred female religious prostitute or pregnancy} in {My Wrestling}, and said to him: ‘My Lord has given you this order: ‘Go, march to Mount Tavor, and take with you 10,000 men from the people of {My Wrestling} and {Bestow/Dwell}. I will cause the enemy, the commander of {Understanding’s} army, to encounter you at the {Place of Ensnarement} River with his chariots and troops; and I will hand him over to you.'”

{The Lightning/Flash} answered her: ‘If you go with me, I’ll go; but if you won’t go with me, I won’t go.’ She replied, “Yes, I will gladly go with you; but the way you are doing it will bring you no glory; because My Lord will hand the enemy over to a woman.’ Then {the Bee} set out and went with {The Lightning/Flash} to {a Consecrated/holy/sacred female religious prostitute or pregnancy}. {The Lightning/Flash} summoned {Bestow/Dwell} and {My Wrestling} to come to {a Consecrated/holy/sacred female religious prostitute or pregnancy}. Ten thousand men followed him, and {the Bee} went up with him.

Now {Fellowship/Associate} the {Kenite} had cut himself off from the rest of the {Kenites}, the descendants of {Moshe’s father in law}; he had pitched his tent near the oak at {to move about/sleepwalking} which is close to {a Consecrated/holy/sacred female religious prostitute or pregnancy}. The enemy was informed that {the Lightning/Flash} the son of {the Pleasant Father} had gone up to Mount Tavor. So the enemy rallied his chariots, all 900 iron chariots, and all the troops he had with him, from {the Carving of the Nations/Gentiles} to the {Place of Ensnarement}.

{The Bee} said to {the Lightning/Flash}: ‘Get going! This is the day when My Lord will hand the enemy over to you! My Lord has gone out ahead of you!’ So {The Lightning/Flash} went down from Mount Tavor with 10,000 men following him; and My Lord threw the enemy, all his chariots and his entire army into a panic before {the Lightning/Flash}’s sword; so that the enemy got down from his chariot and fled on foot. But {The Lightning/Flash} pursued the chariots and the army all the way to {the Carving of the Nations/Gentiles}. The enemy’s entire army was put to the sword; not one man was left.

However, the enemy ran on foot to the tent of {the Strength of God} the wife of {Fellowship or Associate} the Kenite, because there was peace between {Understanding} the king of {the Enclosure} and the family of {Fellowship, Associate} the Kenite. {the Strength of God} went out to meet the enemy and said to him, ‘Come in, my lord; stay here with me; and don’t be afraid.’ So he went into her tent, and she covered him with a blanket. He said to her, ‘Please give me a little water to drink–I’m thirsty.’ She opened a goatskin of milk, gave him some to drink, and covered him up again. He said to her, ‘Stand at the entrance to the tent; and if anyone asks you if somebody is here, say, ‘No.’ But when he was deeply asleep, {the Strength of God} the wife of {Fellowship, Associate} took a tent peg and a hammer in her hand, crept in to him quietly and drove the tent peg into his temple, right through to the ground; so that he died without waking up. So here is {The Lightning} pursuing the enemy, and {the Strength of God} steps out to meet him and says, ‘Come, I will show you the man you are looking for.’ He goes into her tent; and there is the enemy, lying dead with the tent peg through his temple.

Thus God on that day defeated {Understanding} the king of Canaan in the presence of the people of Israel. The hand of the people of Israel came down more and more heavily against {Understanding} the king of Canaan, until they had completely destroyed {Understanding} the king of Canaan.”

Now allow me to break this chapter down just a bit and provide scripture that supports the relation between this chapter and Yeshua’s (Jesus’s) fulfillment of prophecy.

This chapter starts out with “But after Ehud (meaning Joined/in Union) had died.”  In the Garden of Eden we were in union with God with full access to Him. But after the fall, the union had been severed when we ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

“Adonai, God, gave the person this order: ‘You may freely eat from every tree in the garden except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. You are not to eat from it, because on the day that you eat from it, it will become certain that you will die.” Genesis  2:16-17
“Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized (understood) that they were naked.” Genesis 3:7
“Adonai, God, said to the serpent, ‘…I will put animosity between you and the woman, and between your descendant and her descendant; he will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel.'” Genesis 3:15
“Adonai, God, said, ‘See, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil…'” Genesis 3:22

Once we ate from the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil we gained understanding and we were cut off from the Garden of Eden and experienced death. Also, animosity between the enemy and woman ensued but woman and woman’s descendants would bruise the enemy’s head. Here in Judges chapter 4 it illustrates a woman going with Barak into battle and a woman piercing the enemy’s temple and killing him. Thus, conquering the enemy at the hands of a woman.

King Yavin, meaning understanding, and Sisra both represent oppression and the enemy. After the fall, we were divided, separated and oppressed by the enemy resulting in death. The commander of Yavin’s army lived in Haroshet HaGoyim or the Carving (or plowing) of the Nations/Gentiles.

““The days will come,” says Adonai,
“when the plowman will overtake the reaper…” Amos 9: 13
“He will judge between the nations
and arbitrate for many peoples.
Then they will hammer their swords into plow-blades
and their spears into pruning-knives;
nations will not raise swords at each other,
and they will no longer learn war.” Isaiah 2:4

Now the people of Israel cried out to God. God chose, D’vorah, which means bee in Hebrew. The bee pollinates in Israel, the land of milk and honey. Her sting is also one to be reckoned with. His wisdom is also like sweet honey being provided for the people of Israel. She sits underneath the Palm Tree between ‘the heights of deception’ perhaps and the ‘House of God’ in the hills of ‘Doubly Fruitful’. Perhaps this is God’s way of giving back a double portion (2 Kings 2:9, Isaiah 61:7 , Job 42:10) for what the enemy as stolen from us even though we were undeserving. He gives us grace upon grace (John 1:15 ) and where sin abounds grace abounds even more (Romans 5:20).

She, wisdom/judge/prophetess, commands Barak on behalf of God, to march into battle and fight the enemy. Barak, whom she commands, means lightning.

“because the Son of Man in his day will be like lightning that flashes and lights up the sky from one horizon to the other.” Luke 17:24

This chapter repeats over and over again that Barak, the flash of Lightning, is the son of the Pleasant Father. Hmm…son of the pleasant father who was from Kedesh which means both consecrated, sacred, holy and religious prostitute or to get pregnant. Sounds like the Son of God born from the Immaculate Conception (Isaiah 9:6, Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:18).

God goes on to speak through D’vorah the prophet that He will hand the enemy over at the Kishon River or Place of Ensnarement. And Barak, the Flash of Lightning, shows his submission by stating that if she goes with him he will go but if she won’t go with him then he will not go. Yeshua, Jesus, was always in submission to the Father. He always held the posture of, “May the Father’s will be done, not mine”.

So Barak, the Flash of Lightning, and D’vorah, the Bee, descended to the Kishon River or the Holy, Sacred Consecration Pregnancy (Immaculate Conception) along with Naftali (My Wrestling, perhaps the people of Jacob who wrestled with God. The Virgin Mary, or Miriam, was Jewish) and Z’vulun (Bestow,Dwell, perhaps the Father who dwelled in him).

The enemy had been informed of this so he gathered his chariots, iron chariots and troops and went to the Place of Ensnarement. D’vorah tells Barak, the Lightning flash, that this is the day the Lord our God will hand over the enemy to you and they battle. God throws the enemy and his army into a state of panic. The enemy flees on foot.

“”The LORD will conquer your enemies when they attack you. They will attack you from one direction, but they will scatter from you in seven!” Deuteronomy 28:7
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. ” James 4:7

The enemy proceeded to Yael the wife of Hever’s tent, or the Strength of God who is in Fellowship’s tent. He was delivered into the hands of a woman, empowered by the Strength of God, and He was crushed.

“Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin; and sin draws its power from the Torah; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Yeshua the Messiah!” 1 Corinthians 15:55-57
“how God anointed Yeshua from Natzeret with the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) and with power; how Yeshua went about doing good and healing all the people oppressed by the Adversary, because God was with him.” Acts 10:38
“Therefore, since the children share a common physical nature as human beings, he became like them and shared that same human nature; so that by his death he might render ineffective the one who had power over death (that is, the Adversary) and thus set free those who had been in bondage all their lives because of their fear of death.” Hebrews 2:14-15

How rich and beautiful is it that God not only fulfills prophecies from the old testament but He also uses the very roots and meanings of the Hebrew words to further deepen the roots of Himself. How appropriate that He who is the Word uses the roots and meaning of the words to point to Himself.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1
“The Word became a human being and lived with us, and we saw his Sh’khinah (glory and presence), the Sh’khinah of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14

I hope this deepens your trust in God that He is who He says He is. His Word is filled with so much revelation if you’ll ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes. His Word is filled with treasures and layers upon layers of wisdom.
